Chambeshi demands tight defence at U20 WC for Afcon Champions

Zambian U-20 coach Beston Chambeshi says he wants a tight defence in their upcoming 2017 FIFA World Cup campaign.

The U-20 Africa Cup of Nations winning coach says his technical team will work on tightening the defence ahead of the South Korea World Cup kicking off on Saturday.

Chambeshi said with a tight defence, the junior Chipolopolo could reach dizzy heights at the tournament in South Korea.

Tanzania eye maiden Group B win

Chambeshi described their camp in Spain as successful, saying the outing gave the team enough exposure.

In their warm up matches, Zambia beat Tenerife 3-0, drew 2-2 against Deportivo Marino and massacred Las Palmas 4-0 on Monday.

“I can say the team is okay but there are some areas where we need to improve especially in defence. We need to reach the level where we can even win a game by 1-0,” Chambeshi said.

“All I can say is that we are moving in the right direction. We have to forget about the friendly games that we have played here and now we have to look forward to a big stage, which is the World Cup.

“We have been able to see one or two things from the time we came here [Spain]. I think we are now ready, just looking forward to our first game.”

Furthermore, he said his charges are looking forward to the opening Group C match against Portugal on Sunday.

They will meet Iran in their second match on May 24 and wrap up their group stage campaign against Costa Rica three days later.
