According to coach Gavin Hunt, there is an agreement between SAFA and the Braamfontein-based outfit to allow the players to represent their country.
“The club and SAFA agreed that our players could join the team for the actual competition, not for the preparations. It’s not like they won’t be going to the World Cup,” Hunt tells the Daily Sun.
“We have crucial league games coming up, we can’t afford to let them go. They will join Amajita in Asia maybe after the Free State Stars game (on 10 May), which is a week before the competition starts.”
Meanwhile, Senong and his 28-member squad are set to travel to the Netherlands on Tuesday and remain there until May 03 to prepare for the tournament from 20 May to 11 June.
Amajita are in Group D against Japan, Italy as well as Uruguay. They open their group stage campaign against Japan on 21 May, they meet Italy on May 24 before finishing against Uruguay three days later.
