Da Costa’s Vipers SC to host Soana in heated Ugandan battle

Vipers Sports Club will host Soana FC in an Azam Uganda Premier League game at the St Marys Stadium today.

“We have not been playing so well lately. But we need to step up and win matches as the League gets to the climax,” Vipers SC’s Portuguese coach Jorge Miguel Duarte Da Costa told on Friday.

Vipers, who have dropped to sixth place and also got knocked out at the quarterfinal stage of the Uganda Cup, will hope that their young players can can win and move to fourth place.

Da Costa will, however, work without assistant coaches after management of the club demoted Edward Golola and Richard Wasswa (his assistants) and goalkeeping coach Stephen Kiggundu to the junior side.

The second game on the cards will see eighth placed Proline FC travel to face the Saints FC at the Bombo Barracks Grounds.

“Facing a team that is fighting to avoid relegation is always not easy because every game is like a final for them,” Proline FC coach Mujib Kasule told

The Saints FC are in 13th place on the log and above only three other clubs Lweza FC, Sadolin Paints FC and JMC Hippos FC.

Action will return on Saturday with arch-rivals SC Villa hosting table leaders KCCA FC at the Masaka Recreation ground, while Bidco FC battle Lweza FC and Onduparaka FC host Sadolin Paints FC in Arua.
