Platinum Stars played to a fourth successive Absa Premiership draw after holding Baroka FC 0-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.
The result sees Dikwena stay in 12th place on the log, while Bakgaga remain rooted to the bottom of the standings.
The teams exchanged early chances, with Stars’ Gerald Phiri shooting wide in the third minute before Baroka’s Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali struck an effort from a free kick just over the crossbar in the 12th.
Half chances continued to arise at either end, but the real highlight arrived in the 41st minute when Robert Ng’ambi powered an effort on target, only to be denied by a fine diving save from Oscarine Masuluke.
The first clear chance of the second half went the way of Baroka’s Marshall Munetsi, but he struck his shot wide of the mark in the 58th minute.
Ten minutes later it was Ng’ambi’s turn to threaten again, but once more he was denied by the excellent Masuluke as the teams remained deadlocked.
On 73 minutes Stars substitute Gift Links had his first real involvement since coming off the bench and put a header just over the crossbar, much to Masuluke’s relief.
The teams exchanged further chances in what remained of the match, but the final whistle saw the game locked at 0-0.
Both teams will return to league action next midweek, with Stars hosting Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday 21 February, while Baroka will be away to Bidvest Wits the following day.
