Larsen feels he must beef up his squad

Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen says every coach will want to sign a striker ahead of the 2016/17 Absa Premiership second round.

Abafana Bes'thende coach led the team to a comfortable sixth place finish in the first round and will want to improve their finish come the end of the season.

However, Larsen feels he is not on his own in his desire for a frontman, with Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro the only striker to have surpassed double figures in goals so far this season as he leads the Absa Premiership scoring charts.

We will try to win AFCON – Egypt coach

Despite having a great start, the former Buccaneers midfielder feels there is a need to beef up his squad.

“We need another striker – I think every coach will tell you that,” Larsen told reporters.

“There’s only one striker who’s scored goals in the league, so the other 15 coaches are going to say they need a striker. That’s the one position.

“We also need another midfielder to complement (Danny) Phiri, (Kagisho) Dikgacoi and (Musa) Bilankulu and maybe one on the side – we’ve got a few, but I think one more winger.

“At least four players will help transform our team in 2017. That’s the big challenge – we’ve got to really look hard.”
