Mike Phelan: Hull City would be an unbelievable challenge for Samuel Eto’o

Hull City manager Mike Phelan has said that Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o would face an “unbelievable challenge” were he to join the Premier League club.

The Tigers boss was asked about a potential move for the 35-year-old striker after a 3-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion.

Eto’o, who currently plays his club football with Antalyaspor in Turkey, is a reported target for Hull in the January transfer window.

Phelan joked that the former Barcelona and Inter Milan attacker would have to be able to defend corner kicks as well, with Hull having shipped no less than 12 goals from set pieces this season.

"Can Samuel defend corners?" Phelan told Sky Sports. "I haven't heard anything, but it would be an unbelievable challenge if Samuel Eto'o wanted to come to Hull City.

"But that's the least of my worries. We have to look to improve in certain situations. Every position at this moment is up for grabs.

"We've been trying to put things together and analyse other players to come in. And we're still trying.

"So if we can get some over the line then that would be great because everybody needs that bit of help."
