Katsina United rookies will take NPFL by storm says Nikyu
Katsina United coach Bala Nikyu has expressed confidence his team of upstarts will more than hold their own in the Nigeria premier league.
Katsina have staged a return to the top flight of Nigeria football after a 12-year absence and experienced coach Nikyu said he has a group of players who now wish to make a big statement in the premier league.
"With what I saw in my players during the NNL Super 4, if they could maintain that tempo and remain focused as a team, Katsina United will make a statement in the NPFL when the new season commences,” declared the coach.
“I have some boys who are playing in the NPFL for the first time, players from Amakson Football Academy and some youth clubs.
"The players I have here are those who want to do well for their club and carve a niche for themselves.
“And also this game is about giving the young players opportunity to showcase themselves. That is how I discovered Terna Suswan and Eugene Salami.
"I took Terna to Wikki Tourists when I was coaching them and from there he became one of the best players in the NPFL before going abroad to play for Vitoria Setubal of Portugal.”
