Sunshine Stars threaten pay strike over 4 months' unpaid salaries

Nigeria premier league club Sunshine Stars are now spoiling for a pay strike as they are owed salaries running to four months.

August was the last time the players were paid.

One of the players lamented: "We have not been paid for September, October, November and December.

“You can imagine we traveled home without salary and most of us are Christians.

“Honestly speaking, I am tired of the way our football is run.

"I have a wife and other family members to take care of, how do I go in meeting essential needs of life if I am not paid my salary?”

He added: "We have resolved that we are not going to resume if we are not paid before the resumption date.”

The Akure club finished last season in the top six on the table.

In the off season, they lost several top stars including Stanley Dimgba, Dele Olorundare, Stephen Eze and Omolayo Olulayo.
