Zambia international Rodrick Kabwe is set to complete his move to South African Absa Premiership side Ajax Cape Town from Zambian Super Division side Zanaco.
Ajax's Chief Executive Officer CEO Ari Efstathiou confirmed the news on the club's official website on Thursday evening.
“Chief Scout, Luis de Faria, spotted Rodrick on a recent scouting trip to Zambia,” Efstathiou said.
“We subsequently invited the player to come and train at Ikamva in
Cape Town and he has been with us for 10 days.”
“The coach and the technical team are very impressed with him and he will be a perfect addition to the squad ahead of the second half of the 2016-17 season.”
The 24-year-old left-footed player is looking forward to turning out for the Urban Warriors in the second round of the 2016/17 campaign.
“Luis saw me and recommend me to come here and now I find myself here in Cape Town at Ajax,” Kabwe told the site..
“It has been really fantastic, the guys are friendly and I am feeling good. I have only been here for little over a week, so it is quite interesting and I hope we will build on our relationships when I come back [following Christmas].
“I am excited yes, this will be my first international club. I am really excited and I thank God for it. I wouldn’t say much about myself right now, come and watch for yourself next year.”
Kabwe helped Zanaco clinch the 2016 Zambian MTN FAZ Super League title and he's also part of the current Zambia national team squad.
