Omoniwari earns Heartland first win

Fortune Omoniwari scored the only goal that earned Heartland their first win of the five-week-old Nigeria league as they pipped Lobi Stars 1-0 on Sunday.

The Owerri club's winless run cost coach Berthel Orji his job with the veteran coach Alphonsus Dike back in the saddle.

Heartland now have five points from as many games, while Lobi have nine points from five matches.

Omoniwari scored the only goal of the game, which was the first by a Heartland player at home this season, in the 40th minute.

Emeka Ogbugh had his 14th minute effort saved by Lobi Stars goalkeeper Okemutie Odah.

The Heartland striker then fired his shot off target ten minutes later.

With eight minutes of play left, Heartland striker Bright Ejike missed with a free header from close range.
