Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane believes luck was on the Brazilians’ side in their 2-1 Absa Premiership win over Maritzburg United on Tuesday evening.
‘Downs looked set for a routine win at 2-0 up heading into the final 15 minutes of the game, but the Team of Choice upped their game and almost stole a point at the end.
A brace from Anthony Laffor on his return to the starting XI steered Bafana Ba’Style to their seventh win of the season.
The Team of Choice found the back of the net with five minute remaining and could’ve had a few more in the final exchanges had their finishing been up to standard.
While luck might have eluded them in their 1-1 draw with AmaTuks on Saturday, Mosimane believes luck saved them in their win over Steve Komphela’s troops.
“It was a game of two halves, they came back in the latter stages of the game. Our defence was okay, it looked like they will score the [equaliser], but they didn’t. On Saturday luck was not on our side, but today it was,” said Mosimane in the aftermath.
“I don’t like to win against Steve, he is my friend, a brother, but this is business. They are a good team, but we needed the points. Sundowns always play good football, but I told the boys we need two goals, the second goal gave us a cushion.”
